Paul Scholes Pensiun

Berita mengejutkan datang dari Salah satu punggawa Manchester United. Selasa pagi (31/5) waktu setempat salah satu legenda hidup mancheter united Paul Scholes resmi mengundurkan diri dari dunia sepakbola. Menurut spekulasi yang berkembang scholes akan masuk dalam jajaran staf kepelatihan Manchester United mulai musim depan. Scholes mengaku keputusan yang diambilnya ini bukanlah keputusan singkat.

"Saya merasa bahwa waktunya sangat tepat untuk berhenti bermain," sebutnya.

Scholes harus memilih cara yang bijaksana untuk mengonfirmasi niat masa depannya dan mantan bintang Inggris itu banyak berkelakar tentang hal tersebut di sela pengumuman pensiunnya.

"Saya bukan tipe orang yang banyak bicara, tapi percayalah bahwa bermain sepak bola adalah satu-satunya yang saya inginkan dan menjalani karir yang sukses bersama United adalah sebuah kehormatan," ujarnya.

Paul ikut berjasa menjadikan United sebagai salah satu tim terbaik di ranah Eropa dan dunia. Scholesy memulai karier profesionalnya bersama Red Devil pada tahun 1994. Selama berseragam MU, Scholes sudah mengemas 465 laga dan mencetak 102 gol. Bersama United, ia pun berhasil membawa 10 gelar Liga Premier, 3 Piala FA, 5 Community Shield, 2 Liga Champion, satu Piala Intercontinental dan satu gelar Piala Dunia Antar Klub untuk klub yang bermarkas di Old Trafford itu.

Laga testimonial untuk scholes sendiri akan diadakan pada bulan Agustus 2011. Dan Zidane dan Iniesta telah menawarkan diri utuk mengikuti laga ini.
